Botswana - Limpopo - Tuli Block
Northern Tuli Game Reserve and Mashatu
The Northern Tuli Game Reserve nestles in a shallow triangle at the extreme eastern boundary of Botswana. Compressed between the Limpopo River and South Africa to the south and the Shashe River and Zimbabwe to the North.
Queen Victoria allocated to the Tuli Block to British farmers in an effort to block the northern movement of the Boers. Later the area was the scene of battles during the Boer War.
At 29,000 hectares, the Mashatu Game Reserve is one of the largest game reserves in Southern Africa. Pont Drift on the Limpopo River is the normal access point from South Africa. A cable car is used for the crossing when the river is in spate.
