Botswana - Okavango Delta - Birds

Vultures 1, Eagles 0

 

These two white-headed vultures and a tawny eagle were watching a pack of wild dog pups being fed by the adults (see Delta Predators). The dogs had killed a kudu and were back at the den regurgitating the meat for the pups.

 

These birds of a feather were hoping for some scraps but there was a bit of jostling from the vultures to get rid of the eagle.

Hooded Vulture

Wattled Cranes

Wattled cranes are listed as vulnerable due to declining wetland areas. The largest single concentration of these birds occurs in the Okavango Delta.

 

Saddle-billed Storks

The female has yellow eyes and males eye's are brown.
